The Day After Tomorrow?

Is it simply a catchy movie title, or the end of the world for a group of young men, or is it New Year's Eve? More than likely, it's going to be all three of those things. Tomorrow afternoon a group of 17 college buddies are descending on Charlotte for our annual celebration to usher in the new year. We have the added bonus this year of having two days of debauchery vs. Our usual one. It seems the powers that be have scheduled the Mighty South Carolina Gamecocks to play in the Independence Bowl on December 30th. This has created the need to call up what we commonly refer to as "super fans" to Charlotte a day early to cheer the Gamecocks on to a post season win, hopefully the first of many under "The Ol' Ball Coach".

After taking Saturday to recover, we are headed out to Dixie's for a night of singing "Scotty Doesn't know" and hopefully surviving the night. New Year's Eve promises to bring drama, drunkenness, and stupor to all involved. Check back for pictures sometime the first of next week.

Christmas at the Biltmore

In the Spirit of Christmas, Erin and I decided to spend a weekend in Asheville as our Christmas present to each other. We drove up on Saturday morning and spent the day at the Biltmore Estate with about 7,000 of our closest friends. The Estate was beautiful, but there were too many people there to really take your time and see everything. We also visited the Biltmore Winery and saw a brief process of how it was made before sampling a "few" wines.

We had dinner at "The Lobster Tail" and as you can see from the pictures, I indulged in some king crap legs. We went out for drinks afterwards and had a blast.

Bottom Picture: from Left to Right: Watson, Nuts, Paq, Julien, Pun, McGee, and Erin.

This weekend we traveled to Knoxville, TN to see the mighty chickens of South Carolina get their first win in more than 10 years vs. University of Tennessee. What an awesome game and it was awesome to finally win a close game against TN.

This trip marked my first official road game as a Gamecock fan (excluding Clemson and two trips to Tampa, FL. For Outback bowl games in 2000 and 2001). Many thanks to Poppa Mehagan and BJ for hosting 6 guys who don't do much except eat a lot of food and drink free beer from the Mehagan refrigerator. Erin, God bless her, brought the total group to 7 as the lone female, and did pretty well considering the amount of burping and farting she heard from the guys.

I've officially joined the blogger world, mainly to post comments and create a link to this blog site. http://sigmaalum.blogspot.com/.

Like an ongoing Soap Opera, this is the story of my life and my friends.
